Refund, Returns & Delivery Policy

At TrainMania, we take immense pride in providing exceptional products and service. Our policies are designed not only to comply fully with New Zealand consumer law but also to go above and beyond what is legally required — because we believe in fairness, integrity, and earning your lasting trust.
1. Change of Mind or Unwanted Items
If your purchase isn’t quite what you expected or you’ve simply changed your mind, we offer returns for a credit note (valid for 12 months) equal to the value of the item.
While New Zealand law does not require retailers to provide refunds or exchanges for change-of-mind purchases, we choose to do so voluntarily as a gesture of goodwill.
To qualify for a return or credit note, the following conditions must be met:

The item is unused, unopened, and in its original condition and packaging.

A copy of your receipt or proof of purchase is included.

You contact us at info@trainmania.co.nz within 7 days of receiving your order to request a Return Authority.

The product is returned within a reasonable time after authorisation.
Note: Original shipping charges (including free-shipping allowances) are non-refundable. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser.
2. Faulty, Defective, or Damaged Goods
TrainMania fully complies with your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. If a product you have purchased is faulty, defective, or not as described, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund, depending on the nature of the issue.
If you believe your item is faulty or damaged:

In most cases, we will cover the cost of returning or replacing a faulty item.
Our locomotive specialist personally inspects and tests every item we sell, ensuring that our products meet standards that exceed ordinary retail quality control. We never list an item for sale unless it passes this inspection.
3. Delivery & Handling
We treat the safe, timely delivery of your purchase as a top priority.
3.1 Standard Delivery
We typically use New Zealand Post Tracked & Signed Courier services. In some cases, premium courier options such as DHL may be used for international or high-value consignments.
All parcels require a signature on delivery to ensure items are received securely.
3.2 Delivery Timeframes

New Zealand Orders: Usually dispatched within 2–3 business days after payment is confirmed.

International Orders: Delivery times vary by destination and may take up to 30 days.
All estimated delivery times are indicative only, as unforeseen courier or customs delays may occur.
3.3 Delivery Charges
Delivery costs depend on order size, weight, and location. Any applicable shipping costs are displayed at checkout or confirmed prior to dispatch.
4. Incorrect or Incomplete Delivery Details
Please take care to ensure your delivery and contact details are entered correctly when placing your order.
TrainMania cannot be held liable for delays or losses caused by incorrect information provided by the purchaser.
If you realise your details are incorrect, contact us immediately by email or phone. Because orders are often processed swiftly, rapid communication is essential to amend details before dispatch.
5. Shipping Outside of New Zealand
We are happy to ship internationally wherever permitted by postal or customs regulations.
However, please note:

Dangerous goods (e.g. paints or chemicals) cannot be shipped internationally.

Shipping costs must be confirmed and paid before dispatch.

International orders may be cancelled prior to shipping if you decide not to proceed after receiving the final freight quotation.

6. Duties, Taxes & Customs
All prices on TrainMania.co.nz are inclusive of GST for New Zealand customers.
For international customers, your order may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, or local fees in your destination country. These charges are the responsibility of the customer.
TrainMania accepts no liability for any import duties or taxes imposed by foreign customs authorities.
7. Tracking Your Order
Every TrainMania order is shipped with fully tracked delivery. Tracking details will be emailed to you once your order has been dispatched.
We never send parcels without tracking.
8. Payment Methods
We offer several convenient payment options to make your purchase easy and secure:

Bank Transfer: Direct deposits are accepted. Please use your order number as the payment reference.

PayPal: Available for both domestic and international orders.

All payments are processed securely. Orders will be dispatched once full payment has been received.
